In the coming school year, the thousands of university and college Students in Canada and U.S can get their IDs on iPhone and Apple watch. The Students can enjoy the convenience through their Apple Wallet app.For the first time, the student IDs can be added to the Apple Wallet app. Schools along with the New Mexico State University, University of Maine, Northern Arizona University, Auburn University and many such colleges across the country will enjoy the convenience.
It will allow the Students to get around the campus securely with iPhone and Apple watch. The college and university faculty believe that this approach will give easy access to buildings, purchase meals, and more.Many universities and colleges are shifting to this approach to eliminate the use of plastic cards enabling mobile-first approach. Since launching the IDs for the first time in April, the Students are using the IDs for easy access to buildings or purchase meals.
University of Alabama will be the first university to allow access to mobile student IDs to around 38,000. The results have been beneficial to the Students. It has saved time and money. are using the mobile student IDs to acres libraries, student events, and more. The issues like card theft and replacements have been eliminated.
Mobile student IDs offer extra security to Students as well as schools. Though the IDs are accessible on the mobile app or watch, the transaction history is not shared with the devices. To allow Students access to IDs on iPhone wallet and apple watch, Apple has collaborated with Allegion, HID Global, Atrium, TouchNet, CBORD, and Transact.
